It has come to our attention that one of our products has been identified to posses a potential risk to consumers. The product concerned is the Twist 2.0 power assisted bicycle. The potential defect is limited to sales to Giant dealers in the United Kingdom between 27th March and 8th June 2007.
In a few cases the connection (welding) between the steerer tube and fork crown is not 100% secure and because of this the weld can crack and cause play between these two parts. This in turn can result in insufficient response from the front fork to the steering action of the rider.
Affected units can be fixed by replacing the front fork.
Consumers who believe their bike may fall into this group should stop using their Power Asisted model immediately. The dealer who sold you the bike will get in contact to arrange repair to the potentially defective fork. All Giant dealers who have purchased these items within the specified time period have been notified and have been asked to contact consumers within the next couple of weeks.
Please note that only Twist 2.0 models delivered to Giant dealers between 27th March and 8th June 2007 are affected. All other Giant models, including other Power Assisted models, are unaffected by this problem.
If you have any concerns over this matter, or for more information, please do not hesitate to contact us via e-mail, aftersales@giant-bicycles.co.uk (putting Twist 2.0 in the subject field) or by calling the office on 0115 9775900.
We apologise for any inconvenience this many cause and assure all Giant customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standards of product safety and quality.
